AMSOIL Leads the Way in Two-Cycle Oil Technology

New AMSOIL Synthetic 2-Cycle Oils provide second-to-none protection and performance in modern two-cycle equipment

Two-cycle engines remain the workhorses in recreational equipment, including outboard motors, motorcycles, snowmobiles and personal watercraft, as well as in lawn and garden applications like lawn mowers and weed eaters. Design changes over recent years have included direct fuel injection engines, in which fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, and exhaust power valves, which improve combustion efficiency at varying RPM. These design changes have allowed two-cycle engine manufacturers to effectively reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency and decrease oil consumption. Today's two-cycle motors of all types require specialized oil technology to deliver maximum engine protection,
dependable operation and long service life.

As the leader in two-cycle oil technology, AMSOIL has performed extensive research in developing a new line of revolutionary, specialized oils called the "Fabulous Four." AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (AIT) was the first new oil to be introduced. It is primarily recommended as an injector oil or at a 50:1 mix ratio in carbureted, electronic fuel injected (EFI) and direct fuel injected (DFI) snowmobiles, personal watercraft, motorcycles and ATV's. Formulated with wax-free premium quality synthetic esters and a specialized additive package, INTERCEPTOR is designed to address the exhaust valve sticking problems associated with certain snowmobile models.

AMSOIL 2-Cycle Oil Recommendations

DOMINATOR Solves Engine Issues

Tom Donahue has switched to AMSOIL DOMINATOR Synthetic 2-Cycle Racing Oil and is having impressive results. Donahue races his 2000 Yamaha GP1200R 1200cc, 155 hp personal watercraft.

"Out of the box, it would go about 63 mph, not fast enough for Limited Class Racing," said Donahue. "As I began modifying the engine to gain horsepower, I began having reliability issues,"

Donahue said he installed a milled head and an after market exhaust system and soon had a non-running motor. Upon disassembling the engine, Donahue could see the problem appeared to be too much heat being generated between the pistons and cylinders.

"I decided to switch to pre-mix fuel and spent probably $500 repairing damage to the cylinders," said Donahue.

No more than 40 hours later, he had the same problem.

"After rebuilding the engine a second time, I switched to AMSOIL, and that was 80 hours ago," said Donahue. "I pulled the head off the engine, and the crosshatching on the cylinders is as visible as the day I had them machined."

"I have 100 percent confidence in your oil to run a two- to four-hour endurance race, and know I will have a running motor when it is over," said Donahue.


Lawn Care Business Converts to AMSOIL

Gale Salyers doesn't know yet how much he'll save using AMSOIL lubricants in his lawn maintenance machinery, but one benefit was immediately apparent.

"I don't have to gag on smoke and exhaust when I'm using my gas powered hedge trimmers," Salyers said. "With regular petroleum based oil, I had smoke and fumes in my face and oil on my shirts all the time since the trimmer is held at chest level. Now I have no smoke or carbon buildup."

Salyers, who owns and operates Eden Lawn Care with his wife and son in Clermont, Florida, was introduced to AMSOIL 2-Cycle Oil buy one of his customers.

"I had thought about switching to a synthetic oil," Salyers said, "but my attitude was, if it's not broke, don't fix it." Then he was given a couple of packets of the AMSOIL 100:1 2-Cycle Oil. "That sold me on it right away," he said.

Eden Lawn Care services more than 100 customers each week in the Clermont area, one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. In business for 16 years, the Salyers have two trailer loads of machinery, including Dixie Choppers and John Deere walk behinds. Salyers just switched to AMSOIL motor oil in his four-stroke engines and plans to perform scheduled maintenance every six weeks instead of every two. He already has influenced a great many of the area lawn care companies to switch to AMSOIL as well.

"I've been around this machinery a long time, and I've used just about every type of oil," Salyers said. "And this is by far the best I've used in 16 years. It is just a great product."
